CBD Dosage For Your Dog

CBD Dosage For Your Dog

You’re thinking about giving your dog CBD, but where do you start? One of the most important and common questions pet owners have is what the proper CBD dosage is for their dog. Well, let’s just start by saying, there really isn’t one simple dosage that will work for every dog and every health condition. Just like humans, the physiology of each and every dog is different; therefore even subtle differences in dosage can have varying effects in terms of productivity and efficiency. Nonetheless, here are a few tips for figuring out what we think is the best dosage for your furry friend.

What type of CBD product are you using?

CBD products are typically available in 3 different forms: tinctures, capsules, or treats. The most widely known method of administering CBD oil to your pets is through tinctures. Using the tincture, you can put the CBD oil directly into your dog’s mouth. However, since most dogs are not a huge fan of that and it could get messy, you can just drop the oil into your dog’s food or treats.

Capsules/tablets are another option for your dog as it can be a much easier way to administer a proper and effective dosage. Our chewable tablets are beef-flavored and highly palatable, so your dog will eat them right up!

Lastly, CBD treats are a popular way of administering CBD because you will most likely not have any issues getting your pup to gobble up the CBD.

What is the size of your dog?

Very generally speaking, a rough “starting point” in terms of CBD for dogs is 0.05mg x lb., twice daily (Tier 1, Low Dosage). The idea is that if you start off small enough, you will be able to pinpoint the exact threshold where the effect of CBD becomes noticeable. Then after a week or so, you can increase the dosage as necessary.

What are you trying to help treat with CBD?

CBD for dogs has been used to help with arthritis, pain, inflammation, anxiety, and many other things. As such, CBD dosing will depend on which of these conditions you are helping treat. Arthritis, pain, and acute inquiry may require a larger dose meanwhile things like anxiety and immune health might require less dosage.

When in doubt, always read the labels on your product carefully. We recommend closely following the dosing instructions, though it is okay to start smaller than the dosing instructions in the beginning stages of administering like mentioned previously.

CBD Dosage FAQ’s

Can my dog take too much CBD?

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound from the hemp plant, meaning it doesn’t produce any kind of “high” or “buzz” for your dog. If you give your pup a little too much CBD, he may just be tired and drowsy.

How long will it take to see results?

Results differ from pet to pet. Sometimes your dog can have results within 30 minutes of administering, while others don’t see an impact until after a couple days. Especially with our chewable tablets, we would recommend giving the products a few weeks to really take effect.
